10 years anniversary of this blog. Started in 2015 out of boredom. I am not very active here lately, but it is nice to have some sort of outlet, say to put some thoughts on the books i have read and not just for myself, but out in the internet. Also, a few technical articles here did help at least a few people in the past, so this is also nice. And i get to learn how to run a WordPress CMS and its plugins, Matomo stats, etc.
And to make this post a bit more interesting than just bland “hey, plus one year!”. I will post total numbers of views on most popular articles (not just in last year). Of course, since i have started to use Matomo (in 2019, wow, time flies). Some articles got lots of views between 2015 and 2019 when i was using Google Analytics, but i don’t have these numbers anymore.
- Fixing Japanese and Chinese IME problem [EN] (3780), this article became popular in the last year or so; i have no way to prove or check, but it doesn’t seem that important, so i think it is probably mostly bots being drawn to something in it. But some hits come from countries in Asia, so, who knows.
- Very Basic Openfire + Spark Guide [EN] (1847), it is missing a thousand or so views from Google Analytics era. This is the article i am most proud of, spent a lot of time perfecting it and i believe it was truly useful for many. For a few years i would keep updating it depending on changes in software. It is outdated now, but core principles still apply. And it still gets hundreds of hits every year.
- Fixing Windows Defender RCE vulnerability in mpengine.dll [EN] (1562), another recent anomaly; no clue whether it is bots or actual people reading it. Not as popular as IME one, but both posted around same time.
- Office 365 – Deleting users with the same UPN and Display Name [EN] (1239), this is first article that made me feel weird about getting so many views suddenly. I even tried to add a note to it asking people viewing, what they were looking for. No response. So, i guess bots?
- Fixing SSL error when accessing XenServer after KB3175024 update [EN] (1211), this is the first technical article i posted here that got a lot of views and even comments from thankful people and it was incredibly rewarding.
- WSUS woes with Windows 10 [EN] (908), it’s 6th, but wanted to mention it, as it was my first WSUS related article and it really took off, also had a bunch of comments. I still remember sitting and waiting for a doctor appointment and doing edits to it on my tablet 🙂
